King David Harp School is dedicated to teaching the playing of the harp like "King David". Our curriculum focuses on playing the harp by ear and learning the songs of Zion. Initially, live classes will be held in Kansas City as well as members of Jewish Communities around the world are welcome to learn via Zoom. International harp instructor, Michael Moon is directing this renaissance of the harp in the tradition of King David.
The King David Harp School mission is to restore the harp as an instrument that is used more widely by the Jewish Community. The pilot program is to take place in Kansas City and will be recorded to be used across the world. It's time to take down the harps that have been hung up for centuries!
Our program will be emphasizing Hebrew folk songs (also in English) and even a bissel Yiddish. A week long crash course as well as a weekly group classes will be held initially that will take beginners with no previous musical experience and enable them to sing along while playing simple chords. Small levered folk harps will be made available for purchase that sound beautiful and are reasonably priced.
